Terms of Service
Last updated: August 7, 2026
These terms apply to ResumeShortList diagnostics, evidence-backed career tools, paid self-service workspaces, the Career OS, Career Document Studio, application workflows, optional browser-assisted activity capture, optional expert services, and related website features.
Use of ResumeShortList
ResumeShortList provides career-document diagnostics, role comparison, career positioning, evidence management, job-search organization, networking and interview preparation, application workflow support, observed outcome tracking, offer and onboarding tools, and optional personalized career support.
You agree to provide accurate information, use only content you have the right to submit, and review all recommendations before relying on them. You may not use the service to submit another person's private information without authorization, upload malicious material, interfere with service operation, bypass access or usage controls, or abuse complimentary or paid functionality.
Evidence standards and AI-assisted guidance
ResumeShortList is designed to keep customer-confirmed career evidence separate from recommendations. The service will not intentionally invent accomplishments, credentials, responsibilities, metrics, employers, job titles, team sizes, budgets, P&L ownership, education, relationships, recruiter activity, or career outcomes.
Automated and AI-assisted analysis can still be incomplete, overly general, or wrong. You are responsible for verifying every statement before using it. Where the available information is insufficient, ResumeShortList may identify a gap, ask for more evidence, preserve a placeholder, or decline to strengthen a claim rather than infer experience that was not supplied.
Language such as “not clearly evidenced” means the supplied material does not make a requirement sufficiently visible. It does not establish that the experience is absent from your career.
Complimentary diagnostics and positioning tools
The complimentary resume diagnostic is a directional assessment of observable document signals and the role context you provide. It may include a positioning score, category scores, reasons, evidence, confidence, gaps, recommendations, and role-specific considerations. It is not a universal ATS score, employer decision, or prediction of interview probability.
LinkedIn, Career Positioning Brief, Positioning Advisor, interview, and related tools analyze only the customer-provided or account-owned context available to them. They do not provide special access to LinkedIn, recruiter systems, private employer criteria, or hidden platform ranking data.
Target Role Match and 30-Day Positioning Workspace
The paid Target Role Match is a self-service product providing one evidence-backed resume-to-job-description comparison with the access period shown at purchase. The current launch scope includes one Target Role Match and seven days of saved access.
The 30-Day Positioning Workspace is intended for an active search, promotion, or complex transition. The current launch scope includes ten Target Role Matches, a private workspace, saved results, an evidence-to-positioning workflow, eligible diagnostic linking, and connections into other ResumeShortList positioning tools.
Unless the checkout page expressly states otherwise, these are one-time purchases rather than automatically renewing subscriptions. Access periods begin when payment is verified and the product is provisioned. Unused analyses do not roll over after access expires.
Self-service purchases do not include human rewriting, private coaching, recruiter introductions, employer outreach, automatic applications, or unlimited unrelated custom work unless the purchased page expressly includes those services.
Career OS, job capture, and application workflows
The Career OS lets customers organize opportunities, relationships, applications, follow-ups, interviews, goals, and other career activity. Scores and recommendations are decision-support tools based on recorded inputs; they are not employer assessments or hiring probabilities.
ResumeShortList may distinguish between lightweight “Fast” applications and “Priority” opportunities. Fast mode is intended to reduce administration for routine or high-volume applications. Priority mode may activate deeper evidence mapping, tailoring, relationship, interview, and follow-up workflows. The customer remains responsible for deciding how much effort to invest in a role.
Job capture may accept a customer-provided URL and job description. For supported public applicant-tracking-system pages, ResumeShortList may read public structured job metadata. Protected or unsupported sites may require you to paste or explicitly clip visible job text. ResumeShortList does not represent that it can bypass third-party access controls.
The optional browser extension can perform two different actions. When you deliberately click the clipper, it can collect the active job-page URL, title, and selected or visible job text for your review. On supported job/ATS pages, the extension may also watch for a limited set of high-confidence application-completion signals such as “application submitted,” “application sent,” “thank you for applying,” or similar confirmation language. A click on an Apply button, an open application form, or a submit button by itself is not treated as proof that an application was completed.
For passive confirmation capture, the extension is designed to queue bounded structured career metadata such as event type, source, company or role when available, URL, timestamp, channel, and confidence. It is not designed to queue the full confirmation-page text or browser page contents. The extension does not automatically apply for jobs, silently submit application material, discover private contacts, send outreach, or read the ResumeShortList account token.
Career Document Studio and role-specific versions
Career Document Studio allows account-owned master and role-specific career documents, version history, and an achievement library. A saved document version does not overwrite earlier immutable versions.
Evidence-grounded tailoring may select or prioritize existing confirmed content for a target opportunity and create a new role-specific document. Unsupported requirements remain gaps rather than being manufactured into the document. Every generated or edited version requires customer review before export, submission, or other use.
Where an application is linked to a Career Document Studio version, ResumeShortList may store the document identifier, version number, and label so later application activity can be associated with the recorded version without copying the entire resume into general analytics. For a lightweight or externally completed application, the resume version may remain unknown.
Relationships, email, and calendar handoffs
Relationship suggestions use only contacts already recorded by the customer. They may rank saved contacts by recorded organization, relationship type, strength, or follow-up timing. They do not discover or enrich private networks and do not mean a person will respond, provide a referral, or influence a hiring decision.
ResumeShortList may prepare editable networking or application messages. Unless a feature expressly states otherwise, ResumeShortList does not send those messages on your behalf.
Provider-neutral email and calendar handoffs create an editable mail draft or importable calendar file. You remain responsible for the recipient, participants, time zone, meeting details, content, and final send/save action. These handoffs do not silently create or modify third-party email or calendar records.
The current release does not provide persistent Gmail or Outlook inbox access and does not store third-party mailbox OAuth tokens. If a future read-only inbox-reconciliation feature is offered, it will require a separate explicit connection/consent flow and corresponding privacy disclosures before access is granted.
Observed outcomes and analytics
You may record or, where a supported capture source is enabled, automatically reconcile outcomes such as recruiter responses, screens, interviews, offers, acceptance, rejection, or withdrawal. Where available, you may associate an outcome with the opportunity and exact resume version recorded as used.
Outcome dashboards report recorded structured events and descriptive conversion rates with sample sizes. They are not predictions and do not establish that a resume, score, relationship, product recommendation, or other ResumeShortList feature caused an employer decision. Small samples can move materially and should be interpreted cautiously.
ResumeShortList will not intentionally publish identifiable outcomes, resumes, testimonials, case studies, or before-and-after examples without appropriate permission. Illustrative product examples should be labelled as illustrative or fictional.
No guaranteed outcomes
ResumeShortList does not guarantee ATS passage, recruiter interest, recruiter responses, referrals, interviews, job offers, application success, employment, promotion, compensation increases, LinkedIn visibility, profile views, recruiter discovery, or any other hiring or career result.
Professional outcomes depend on factors outside the service, including role fit, applicant competition, timing, market conditions, relationships, employer criteria, authorization to work, compensation expectations, interviews, and final employer decisions.
Personalized services
Expert-service package pages describe the intended customer, price, expected turnaround, included deliverables, and revision approach. Public prices are in Canadian dollars unless stated otherwise. Complex executive, international, urgent, or multi-direction work may require a separately agreed scope.
Turnaround begins after required materials and sufficient context are received. Where revisions are included, they refine the agreed direction rather than create unlimited unrelated career versions.
Expert Career Services are optional premium services. The self-service software is intended to provide useful standalone value without requiring a consultation, coach, or writer.
Payments, access, cancellations, and refunds
Payment is processed through the provider shown at checkout. ResumeShortList does not intentionally receive or store full payment-card numbers in the website application. Paid digital access may be provisioned immediately after successful payment verification.
Launch, pilot, or introductory prices may change for future purchases. A later price change does not alter a completed purchase.
Refund eligibility depends on the product, whether digital access or analysis has been used, any verified service failure, checkout terms, and applicable consumer-protection law. ResumeShortList may decline refund requests based solely on score dissatisfaction, disagreement with directional recommendations, unused access after expiry, or the absence of a desired hiring result except where law requires otherwise.
Private access, security, and customer responsibility
Account, workspace, and access credentials are private. You are responsible for protecting devices, browser storage, access links, tokens, and sign-in credentials you use with ResumeShortList.
Do not upload unnecessary government identifiers, passwords, payment credentials, medical records, or other information not needed for the career service. If you believe access has been exposed, .
Access may be suspended for credible fraud, malicious activity, unauthorized sharing, abuse, attempts to bypass limits, or other material violations of these terms, subject to applicable law.
Privacy, retention, and examples
The Privacy Policy explains how career information, uploaded materials, account data, analytics, and deletion requests are handled.
Access expiry is not necessarily the same as immediate deletion of underlying records. You may request deletion according to the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
ResumeShortList will not intentionally publish an identifiable customer resume, profile, application workspace, outcome history, testimonial, case study, or career story without permission.
Third-party services
ResumeShortList may rely on third parties for hosting, AI-assisted processing, databases, file storage, email delivery, scheduling, analytics, error monitoring, payments, and browser-extension distribution. Those providers may have independent availability, terms, and privacy practices.
LinkedIn and other job boards are independent third-party platforms. ResumeShortList is not affiliated with or endorsed by them unless expressly stated. Customer-directed clipping or supported confirmation detection does not imply special platform access or permission to bypass third-party controls.
Ownership and permitted use
You retain ownership of the original career information and materials you submit. You may use customer-specific outputs and purchased deliverables for your own career search, professional profile, internal career development, and related personal career purposes.
ResumeShortList retains ownership of its software, methodology, scoring frameworks, templates, design, and reusable educational content. You may not resell, scrape, reverse engineer, commercially reproduce, or use the service to provide unauthorized services to other people.
Availability and changes
ResumeShortList may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, usage limits, packages, prices, or website content. Where reasonably possible, material product changes will not remove already-paid access before its stated expiry, although urgent security, legal, fraud-prevention, provider, or technical circumstances may require action.
Material changes to these terms will be reflected by updating the date on this page. Continued use after an updated version becomes effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
